Speaker 1:

We are on the last episode that is, summarizing 2023, and today we are talking about what was most popular on the Wrinkled Runner website. I cannot tell you how many times I have to say Wrinkled Runner website before I get it right. It's too late to change that now. We're going on our fifth year. But pro tip if you need to come up with a name for yourself for content producing, just don't try to be cute. Wrinkled Runner came to me because I was a Wrinkled Runner, but when I say Wrinkled Runner website, it is something I have to say like five times and then edit out all the times I say it wrong just to get it to sound okay. So let's jump into the actual episode. Last year, I definitely focused on the Garmin watch and the top three posts were about the Garmin Connect website. That is personal to you. Over on the blog. I have pictures and links and everything so that you can figure out how to see reports and data maps, races, and if you read the overview, you can find your own data on there. I'm going to link to all that in the show notes, of course, but this website is different than the app on your phone. It's an actual site that you can go to that downloads all of your data from your watch and shows you a whole lot more than you can see in the Garmin Connect app, like that would be on your phone. Now you can see a whole bunch on your phone, on the app, but I think a lot of people are just not aware that there's this actual website that has all of your things on it as well and you can get a much deeper dive into your data. So if you have a Garmin watch and you're really into the data, head over to the website, look it over all the different. I think I did three or four posts on just that Garmin Connect website just to kind of show you everything that you can see if you go over there. And if you're interested in races and things, there's even an area that you can find all the races near you or all the races in America. Or you know and I'm going to be doing a YouTube video on that in a few weeks now It'll probably land somewhere in February 2024 that this Garmin Connect website sends you to this other place and I'm going to do a tutorial on that. So head over to the YouTube channel, subscribe, and then you can get that information. So that covered three out of the top five.

Speaker 1:

Number four was on consistency in running. Getting out there for a run is one of the best ways to get better at it. Workouts, adding mileage, picking up the pace, strength training all of that is very important, but if you don't go out to run, you're not going to be able to implement any of that. So the other thing about consistency is when you make running a habit, that not only gets you better, but it gets you out the door, even if you aren't motivated to do so. So if I take someone from net running to running a half hour or so with no stopping in 10 weeks and that runner does nothing else but go out and run half an hour four times a week, after a few months they're going to almost certainly be running farther because they're going to be running. Naturally, they're going to be getting faster at those runs. So consistency is just something that can really pull you forward and get you better, even if you're not at the point where you're incorporating running, workouts and all the other things that we talk about when we talk about training.

Speaker 1:

So the number one article over on the website was about the Boston Run Show, and that happens to be coming up actually this weekend. So if you're listening to this episode, when it drops this coming weekend is the Boston Run Show, and that's going to be the 27th and the 28th of 2024 at the Heinz Convention Center in Boston. There's a limited number of free tickets left, but if you head to the website then I'm going to link you to and enter Wrinkled Runner all one word, all caps. At checkout. You can still get in for free. Last year was its first year. I know it really well, so they are back and it's bigger than last year.

Speaker 1:

There's going to be speakers, including the running comedian, laura Green, who is hilarious and if you don't follow her on Instagram, look her up and Scott Jurick of the Ultra Running World is going to be there. If you go to the website, you can see the whole list of all the speakers and all the workshops and shoe companies that are going to be there. There's going to be all the booths. It's like a convention, so all the booths are going to be there selling products, talking to you about races, and you can buy apparel there running apparel, gear. There's just all kinds of stuff and it's really fun and really cool. So if you're going to be in the area and you happen to be listening to this in time, take a look at everything that they have to offer. Okay, so that is our top five from 2023 and we are into season seven and starting next week, we will be having longer form content and getting into some different things, especially if you are a beginner or an older runner.
